In the ever-evolving landscape of technology and innovation, Stratford CS emerged from humble beginnings. What started as a modest gathering of a small few has now burgeoned into a community of over 100 passionate members. This growth, however, isn't just a testament to our love for coding or algorithms. It's a reflection of our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community building. At Stratford CS, we've reimagined what a Computer Science club can be, transforming it from a niche group to a thriving, diverse community.
While many see Computer Science as a realm of ones and zeros, we see it as a canvas of limitless possibilities. By integrating diverse perspectives, we've expanded our horizons beyond traditional coding. Through mentorship, community outreach, and collaborative projects, we've harnessed the collective wisdom of our members. This approach has not only enriched our initiatives but has also made Computer Science more accessible, relatable, and, indeed, 'cool'. At Stratford CS, we celebrate the confluence of technology with the human spirit, demonstrating the profound impact of diverse voices coming together.
Neil Aylor founded us as the Computer Science Club, with the mission to spread Computer Science to everyone at Stratford High School.
Under the leadership of Neil and Vice President Devon Schwartz, the club rapidly expanded, bringing on young new leadership. The club's meetings were massive, and it became one of the fastest growing clubs at the school.
We partnered with a local community center, Family Point Resources, to help start a free coding club for kids. This was a critical point for us, as we were able to start having meaningful impact outside of Stratford.
Under the new leadership of President Park Dalton, and Vice President Griffin Ferguson, we made sweeping changes. We rapidly expanded leadership, establishing a more diverse team than ever before. With this team, we started new environmental and social initiatives, aimed at furthering our commitment to the community around us.
Moving beyond our roots of simply being a club, we wanted to make it clear we were now a legitimate organization. We are now Stratford CS, an organization dedicated to changing the world through the power of STEM.
